Thank you for considering PT Watercraft Kits

Russell and Ashlyn Brown are excited to collaborate with Chesapeake Light Craft to resume production of the PT 11and the PT Spear.

Together with Chesapeake Light Craft, the PT 11 Nesting Kit and PTSPear kit packages have been revisited to include the WEST SYSTEM epoxy kit we have always recommended to builders and includes fillers and mini-pump set.

The new retail prices reflect material price increases in the supply chain and the discounted epoxy kit. We have worked together to keep your total investment in this project in alignment with our older prices with the help of CLC’s more efficient production set-up.

See the below page with PT11 kit information and secure online ordering. Once you submit your order, you will be hearing back from the CLC team with more information, including an estimated ship date and a shipping quote. You'll approve the shipping quote before your card is charged.

You can also email admin@clcboats.com

If you are planning to take advantage of the sailing options for the PT 11, CLC will accept your order for those as well but please be aware that your ready-to-use sailing rig may arrive after your kit but before you complete the build. These rigs continue to be produced by Russell Brown and drop-shipped from Port Townsend.

Thank you for your patience one and all.
Please send feedback if you have any difficulty with the link or otherwise questions for Russell and Ashlyn specifically.

This website will remain as a resource for PT 11 and PT SPEAR builders, with information, updates, instructions, photos and videos, and of course, books!

PT Watercraft offers kits for new and unique boat designs that are efficient, functional, modern & attractive.

Our focus is on creating boats that answer the needs of serious cruisers, weekend camp cruisers and environmentally conscious boaters, sail and motor. Our teacher in the kit business was the fuel efficient 18.5ft center console , PT Skiff, now handled by the designers at biekerboats.com.  Russell Brown’s modern performance nesting dinghy and the non-nesting PT Spear come from his deep well of experience to create his personal ideal in a dinghy. This process has led to creating our own unique hatch toggles or ‘turn dogs’,  dinghy rigs, sails, dinghy foil kits, & original PTW stainless steel connective hardware. Preferring not to teach classes, Russell has applied his knowledge in his stitch & glue builders’ manuals and working-with-epoxy instructional books, Epoxy Basics, Rolling Perfection, and Scarfing Basics.

R&D by Russell J. Brown with various design collaborations with Paul Bieker and Eric Jolley of Bieker Boats, Jim Franken of Franken Design, Brandon Davis of Turn Point Design, Paul Zeusche of Antalya Inc., Sean Rankins of NW Sails, Sandy Goodall, James Island, Bob Pattison, Anderson Machine Shop.  Special thanks to our honorary consultants, John Marples, Dick Newick, Jim Brown, Brian Clark, Tom George, John Harris, Alex Spear, Tim Nolan, Meade Gougeon, Ted Pike, Chris Grace. Okoume plywood and beautiful hardwoods from Edensaw in Port Townsend, WA. Our preferred epoxy is WEST SYSTEM  from Gougeon Brothers. Lots of great stuff we use comes from Admiral Ship Supply in Port Townsend and  FISHERIES SUPPLY in Seattle. Publicity thanks to Wooden Boat, Professional Boat Builder, Small Craft Advisor, Epoxy Works, Sampson Boat Company, and our customers!..+
