Shipping the kit overseas

How much to ship the kit overseas?
--Right now we are setting up the business for shipping to the USA and Canada. Before the end of the year we will be able to quote prices for international/overseas shipping. Note that the current base kit consists of 2 boxes and a wooden crate. The crate with the longer hull panels and sides decks will weigh roughly 150 LBS. Each of the smaller boxes will weigh about 75 LBS.

 An update on this topic...The first international airfreight quotes I have received are to laugh about but not funny at all. The way I see it is that I will need to seek overseas partners to do the CNC part of the kit. This can get complex and ugly without trust and really good cooperation. We have been strongly advised against one off sales that include a cut file so we will not even consider this. I will assume for now that overseas sales are going to be next to impossible in 2010 but I will think positive and pursue a good contract with a good partner in Australia first and possibly France for Europe, second. Anyone who has a suggestion on this, is welcome to send it my way. Thank you all :) AE

An UPDATE :o I believe we have reasonable shipping overseas as a real possibility. Through a local business I just received a quote for roughly $300 to France. This would be ocean freight with delivery of 5 to 6 weeks. This price is no higher than quotes for trucking the kit across the USA :D If this is anything to go by, Other destinations including New Zealand and Australia may be just as affordable. Those of you interested should look into the nearest major ports to your area and what is involved in clearing a kit into the country and getting it then to your door.
